In the ‘Epic of Gilgamesh’ the ‘flood story’ is used to mark the time in ancient history after which it was no longer possible for a mortal to gain immortality.

Stories about a catastrophic flood seem to exist around the globe, even ancient South and Middle America and Polynesian cultures used to tell them or write them down.
