The Dance ~ Balroop Singh #writephoto

Ah! The invitation! The exhilaration!
A dream come true!

She looked forward to the dance party – an annual ritual that she had seen from the seams. Today she would be the center of attraction – the lady with the veil, an enigma for everyone.

Eager to see the lady, we started the long trek to the magical land, hoping to reach before getting dehydrated. A mirage that seemed so near yet kept receding.

Dance ~ Honoré Dupuis #writephoto

“Those stones don’t belong to our time, they exist here only in our minds…”

I hear the words, I see the mist, I wish I could go back.

“You don’t need to, just wait for this veil to be lifted in the sunshine, then you will see, the true spirits dancing, alive.”

Freedom…

Image Credit: Balaji Malliswamy, chosen by Vashti Q. Vega for Colleen’s poetry challenge

*
Deep
The fear
In silence
Slowly growing
Born of ancient roots
With infinite patience
Awaiting its chance to feed
Accepting any form offered
The predator stalks its prey unseen
Dragging unwary minds into blackness
No escape from its terrible assault
Eyes must open to the glint of light
Glimmering beyond the shadows
Stars mark the path of release
Points of hope at midnight
Showing the way home
Beyond ourselves
Reclaiming
Freedom’s
Grace

Cheese and Compost, anyone? ~ Alli Templeton

Reblogged from Medieval Wanderings:

My fire pit and medieval cookware turned up just in time for some nice weather last weekend, so I couldn’t wait to set it all up and have a go. I’ve got two books on medieval cookery to play with, and following the success of my Ember Day Tart I’ve been keen to cook some more recipes in authentic style and get a real taste of the Middle Ages. When I first looked through one of the books I was given for Mother’s Day, one recipe in particular caught my eye because it made me giggle. Not only that, it looked quite a challenge for a first attempt at cooking with an iron cauldron over a real fire, so I decided I just had to have a go at making some ‘Compost’. Oh, and I decided to make some medieval flatbreads to go with it, obviously…

cooking over a fire

A cauldron bubbles over an open fire – just like mine!

Of course, to us ‘Compost’ sounds wholly unappetising, conjuring images of rotting veg and worms, but in fact it was a name given to a kind of thick sauce that we’d recognise today as chutney.

They Dance ~ Anita Dawes #writephoto

Our star hung colourless

Unable to pierce the grey mist.

As I walked, the green path

with golden fields flanking my sides

Overtures ~ Kerfe Roig #writephoto

overtures s

Would you be crowned with jewels
or a garland of blooms?
a silence eternal or fleeting?

Would you seek a throne
or a resting place between?
a looking out or within?

Telling Stones…

HM15 1156

…Gazing into the depths of the reflection the moving torches seemed to open the gates of vision and she saw herself in an Other-Where…

Dressed in strange garb, looking across time with other eyes, watching herself made her feel dizzy and strange, as if seeing two landscapes, one in darkness, another shrouded in the mists of morning…

She tied the horsehair plait about her wrist, her mind swimming in the dreaming…

There were more than two worlds here…

Dance ~ Noah Weiss #writephoto

The prompt’s title was “Dance,” although this is an interesting title given that nobody’s dancing here. Sue, I’ll find a way to incorporate that word!

After being in the maze of corn for so long, Roswell and Wanda finally saw an opening.

But it wasn’t just a maize maze that they were in: from above their superiors could see a distinct pattern. But, there was a dark area from where their superiors could see.
