Cusp of the Moon: young lion…

HM15 079

…It was not long before Aggafdu, Prince of Annwn, got to hear about the marvellous sun shoes of Sow Hill:

“You must bring me a pair of blue and gold shoes from the master cobblers of Sow Hill,” he said to his henchmen, Ma-Mull and Mu-Mall.

So off the two henchman sailed to Sow Hill, with their Lord’s shoe size to hand, and with their brawn set to persuade the master cobblers of that region to cobble shoes for their Lord, Aggafdu, Prince of Annwn…

…“Why certainly,” said Greidyawl-the-Wise taking the measurements from them, “that will be no trouble at all,” and he cobbled a pair of shoes too big for Aggafdu.

“But these shoes are too big!” said Aggafdu, when Ma-Mull and Mu-Mall returned to his castle. “The price of them to the master cobblers of Sow Hill, none the less, but when you return to that place do you see that you ask for a smaller pair.”

…“Too big eh!” said Greidyawl-the-Wise. “Let’s see now that will be no trouble at all,” and he cobbled a pair of shoes too small for Aggafdu, Prince of Annwn.

It’s Thursday tomorrow I think ~ Keith Hillman #writephoto

What’s happening to me?  Words once flowed from my mind in an endless stream.  Now they don’t.  I just sit here fiddling with pens, screwing up paper and bending paper clips.

We used to go to a club on Mondays and sit in a circle reading stories we’d written.  Or was that Tuesdays?  We did, didn’t we?  Yes, I remember standing up and reciting a poem about my cat. Or dog.  That was me, wasn’t it?  Or was it you?

Mirror…

Eyes

Behold

Reflections

Pale images

Caught in the mirror

The tragedy of grief

Traces of the passing years

Carving away self-confidence

Laughing at forgotten vanities

Accepting time’s changing reality.

The stories tell of a magic mirror

Whose heart can reflect only the truth

Stripping away time’s illusion

Look into the eyes of love

See yourself reflected

See as you are seen

For love sees true

Reflecting

Only

You

Cover Making On a Dime ~ H. R. R. Gorman

Reblogged from H. R. R. Gorman… a step by step guide to making a book cover:

There’s an evil trifecta that will always affect everything you do. You must choose between:

  1. Good
  2. Cheap
  3. Fast

And I’ve not figured out how to get around that. Sometimes you can get good and cheap, but it probably won’t be fast. Good and fast won’t be cheap, and fast and cheap are almost never good. This is true for food and books, and it’s also true for book covers.

So let it be known that if you follow the advice on this page, you’re at best going to get good and cheap. It won’t be fast, and at some level the “good” part will depend on your skill level. That being said, here’s how I make my covers.

The stones remember ~ Jane Dougherty #writephoto

Okay, WIP calls. For Sue’s Thursday Photo prompt.

Screen Shot 2020-02-06 at 16.06.53

The beck still flows as it has always done, quieter now that the mill has gone, quieter now that the ghosts have gone, but the water that is always different and always the same remembers. The stones remember and the wind and the great- great- great- grandchildren of the crows remember, the trees that bend, bowed but not broken, on the rocky hillside all know the story and will never forget.

Hawisa watches over this melancholy place and soothes the chattering bones. I have seen her face in the running water, strong, solemn and wise, and at night, those who dare, whose consciences are clear can see her weaving her dance of flame among the russet leaves of autumn, leading fox and deer and weasel and redbreast to the place where it all began and ended.

Our Blue Chapel…

…Wen and I are discussing plans for the morrow over supper.

I for my part am keen to spend as much time in Our Blue Chapel as humanly possible and to that end have come up with a task that can be performed there. We were supposed to have a system of Oracle Cards in place for the launch but since we will not actually be utilising them in the lessons until the second year, work on them has been temporarily put to one side. However, since the weekend’s events I have been itching to try out the new energies for divination and since the year one glyph gives scope for the utilisation of twenty-two personality types all told it makes sense to try to map them onto the Major Arcana of the Tarot…

…The door swings open.

It is like stepping into a warm bath.

We take another tour slowly examining the new discoveries, and soaking up the atmosphere of the place as we go… noticing yet more depth to the wall paintings including a depiction of Catherine’s beheading and a couple of stray heads…which do not seem to belong to any personage in particular. Whatever the deeper meaning of the ‘head theme’ it does not seem to have fazed the local populace, they almost seem to be celebrating its existence… It is with some reluctance that we finally set too on our respective missions…
