Breaking bad?

It started with a tyre, then another, then a third…
“The tracking’s out,” they said, although the price was all I heard.
“The fourth one will need doing soon, and have you checked the spare?”
Now, should I groan and weep… or start on tearing out my hair?

The vacuum isn’t working and the printer’s on the blink,
The fish tank has a problem and there’s glass shards in the sink,
The mower needs replacing and the heating will need tweaking,
And just to top it off the solar panels are still leaking.

The fence the wind blew down, at least, has now been reinstated,
The small dog can no longer flee a world securely gated.
I didn’t break my back when falling from that awful height,
So I was almost hoping that an end might be in sight.

Instead, both me and mobile phone are suffering concussion,
Apparently, once smashed, it puts an end to all discussion,
But unlike me, it will not heal with TLC and rest
And so, in spite of bruises, it would seem I came off best.

And though the bird feeder fell down at least it didn’t shatter,
It only left a mess, the birds will clean that up, no matter.
(The small dog ate their suet ball, not great, but it won’t hurt her,
Though if she passes wind again like that, I may desert her.)

I’d like to pass a day without disaster of some kind,
Or even just with little ones, that would relieve my mind,
If not, I have to wonder, if it wouldn’t be too late
To trade in my humanity so I can hibernate!

There are many days when hibernation seems appealing. I know you will persevere though…good luck! (K)

  7. I’ve often thought bodily injuries (of the non-fatal variety) preferable to those afflicting inanimate objects. Time heals bodies, but machines and devices respond only to cash.

Oh poor you, Sue. It never rains but it pours! I hope things look up for you very soon – you’ve had more than enough to deal with. Working out the troubles in verse must help a bit, and I do love how you do it. Hibernating is a very tempting idea – can I join you too? 😀

You might be on to a winner there, Sue. Hibernating sounds wonderful, but I probably won’t want to come back come Spring… Personally, I have my own method of dealing with trouble, if more than two arrive at the same time, I ignore them both… it’s only fair…

  10. I’m in on the whole hibernation thing. Especially cuddling up to a nice warm bear. In my HEAD, I know houses are always one thing after another, but my empty wallet and my heart get really UPSET about it.

Oh … dear. Shall we blame it on the waning moon? … which is not waxing so I thonk things’ll turn around now, at least until the full moon. 🙂

I’d like to hibernate from May to September. Either that or head to Tierra del Fuego for the season.
