Roots drink deep of earth
Minds open to welcome light
Heart keeps its secrets

The photo for this week’s prompt was taken at the great stone circle of Avebury. This stand of trees is well known to those who visit the stones and seems to offer a portal through which dreamers may pass.
I have written much of the circle, but little of the trees… mere youngsters beside the stones that have stood there for thousands of years. This little copse grows on the earthen bank of the henge, standing guard over the eastern entrance to the stones.
Their roots, exposed by weather and the erosion of many feet, form an intricate lacework across the end of the henge…. and always remind me of my great-grandmother’s antimacassars, pritecting what lies beneath.

My thanks, as always, to all those who took part. All the posts inspired by this image are listed below, so please click on the links to read them and leave a comment for the author. Thank you too, to everyone who reblogged the prompt, round up and the individual resposes.
A new prompt will be published later today. I will reblog as many contributions as space and time allows, as they come in… and all of them will be featured in the round-up on Thursday.
Many people are having problems with pingbacks not coming through… and I can miss things too… so if you have written a post for this challenge and it does not appear in the round-up, please leave a link to your post in the comments and I will add it to the list.
A Reminder and an invitation
As there are usually too many contributions to reblog all of them every week, and so that we can get to know their writers, I would like to invite all writephoto regulars to come and introduce themselves on the blog as my guest! ‘Regulars’ does not mean you have to take part every week… Click here for details
Come and join in!
Please leave your comments for the contributors on their blogs.

Good morning everyone.
Here’s a great roundup post of all the week’s #WriterPhoto prompt posts.
If you’ve never enjoyed these you should sure take the time to do so, and if you’ve never participated then, well, shame on you.
Even blind and visually challenged writers can do so because Sue has taken the time to describe all her #WriterPhoto prompts.
A new one will be coming out later today, so be sure to watch for it and have a go.

What seems special to me about these roots is that they are green at places and so well connected. Thanks for this word: antimacassars. 🙂

The whole stand of trees is interwoven 🙂

Thanks, Jen… pingbacks are not coming through from a number of people. It would be a good idea to leave a link in the comments next time 🙂 I’ll add this now.

Glad I found you again. I used to follow you, but somehow I lost you!
It seems like serendipity that I found you today going from one blog to another, then to yours.
Peace,
Sherrie

I didn’t know that ROOTS were what I needed
I was told to reconnect with my past
And bless it
When I did I realized
There was a lot more happiness there
Than sadness
Then I started reconnecting with friends
From former lives
Former times
Finally I started writing my novel
And connecting with people
I never planned to see again
Now I’m on my second book
And I pray that some of these people
Will see themselves in it
And contact me
I had no idea how much I missed them
Sherrie Miranda’s historically based, coming of age, Adventure novel “Secrets & Lies in El Salvador” is about an American girl in war-torn El Salvador:

Her husband made a video for her novel. He wrote the song too:
Watch for the prequel coming out soon! “Crimes & Impunity in New Orleans” follows the dramatic story of naive, sheltered Shelly going to “The Big Easy” to prepare for El Salvador, but has no idea she will encounter sexism and witness racism as well as illegal activities by government agents.
