“Do it. Now…”
Implacable.
Cold sweat beads on his forehead. Her eyes are keen as anguish, sharp as the steel against his throat. How had he not realised? How had it come to this? He had tried everything. He had even begged. The thought made him squirm, but he no longer cared. He had nothing left.
The bright edge of the razor would strike.
No way to escape.
His hands shake. He must. He cannot. Bile rises as he closes his eyes… all he can see is blood and ruin.
“Now, Dave … Either the beard goes, or I do…”

Ha! I can relate to this. I had a beard when I met the woman who would eventually become my wife. She’d never seen me without a beard and then, about ten years ago, she asked me to shave it off so she could see what I looked like without a beard. I was very attached to my beard — literally —
but, because she asked, I reluctantly agreed to shave it off. As soon as she saw my face without my beard, she said, “grow it back.”

😀 I personally like a man with a beard. There is an old saying, “a kiss without a beard is like an egg without salt…”

Never having kissed anyone with a beard, I’ll have to take your word for it.

I had the identical reaction to my first husband without a beard. I actually didn’t recognize him at first. THEN I said “Grow it back.” Everyone else just nodded enthusiastically.

Most of the men I love have, or have had beards… to ask them to shave them off is like asking them to cut off a limb 😉

😀 I don’t mind them if they’re trimmed very tight, but those giant lumberjack beards. Um.. Not!

I was expecting a real creepy story – but I guess for a man who loves his beard and has watched it growing since years it is unbearable gruesome to chose between getting shaved and losing his beloved one. 😉

I have seen it happen, martha. No man should be asked to submit to such a choice 😉
