About Sue Vincent

Sue Vincent was a Yorkshire born writer, esoteric teacher and a Director of The Silent Eye. She was immersed in the Mysteries all her life. Sue maintained a popular blog and is co-author of The Mystical Hexagram with Dr G.M.Vasey. Sue lived in Buckinghamshire, having been stranded there due to an accident with a blindfold, a pin and a map. She had a lasting love-affair with the landscape of Albion, the hidden country of the heart. Sue  passed into spirit at the end of March 2021.

The walnut tree in our neighbour-across-the-lane’s back yard has provided yet another bounty for the intrepid squirrels, one black and one grey, who call our garden theirs. They are busy almost every afternoon, burying the fruits of their labours in our slightly-longish lawn. The crows and bluejays hide behind the holly and up above on the electricity lines, and swoop down to pinch every fourth or fifth nut a soon as the squirrel’s backs are turned.
I think the squirrels are on to them though, because when the birds do manage to break open the nuts the little furred beasties are waiting underneath them to scoop up the bits the birds inevitably drop. 😀

I’d never be away from the winfow at your place 🙂 Especially with a black squirrel to watch…

When we moved here we decided that we didn’t want a traditional living room, with a sofa and coffee table, etc, but what we did need was a workable study for both of us, and not tucked away in the tiny almost windowless 2nd bedroom … so, we plonked our desks and computers and printers and bookshelves down in the main living area and work with the glorious view of the ‘winter tree’ and assorted wildlife. (squirrels, racoons, crows, robins, bluejays, and so on and once a deer)
This, of course, means that we don’t have a ‘sitting down’ area when guests come to visit. Thankfully we tend to be hermits, so it doesn’t happen too often, so we haul in kitchen chairs and folding chairs and ‘entertain’ in our office! 😀 … with a glorious view. 🙂

A beautiful haiku to sum up the feelings of this little one. Is Ani a squirrel fancier?

A lovely haiku, Sue! Where we live now, there are no squirrels. It seems so odd to me, but I haven’t seen one in the three years we’ve been here. Everywhere else we’ve lived we saw them all the time and spent many an hour watching them with our sons. I can still hear there chuckles as they watched squirrels chase each other, up one tree and down another.
