“It’s a scene that emanates from the sky. A chalky crescent emerging against a backdrop of sky, which not only feels, but is stained in blue.

The crescent as the etymology suggest will grow and become a disc. The halo may fool little children, but the disc is dark and devoid of life.

You see child, even when the life is gone, the dead remains. The life in itself will be; as it always has been, witnessed by Death. Although you can say the reverse is also true, that Death too is witnessed by Life.
