I am not a happy bunny. Well, okay, so I’m not exactly a hoppity animal with a fluffy tail and big ears. Alright, I know… let’s start that again, shall we? And we’ll forget the ears and tail thing altogether…. and the rest…
I am not happy. I have been betrayed, cheated upon, let fall by the wayside… it is a horrible tale…
I trusted him. Right from the start. From that very first day when he cuddled me all the way home. He was my boy. And I thought he loved me too. I thought I could rely on him to always be there for me…
And he has betrayed me.
Utterly.
I was suspicious when I smelled the scent… you can’t get that one past a dog. I knew there was someone else… and that was bad enough. But, you know, maybe just a friend… or a casual acquaintance?
But no. I recognise the signs… and I could tell when she came home from his place. I saw the hairs on her clothes… black and white, just like mine, but…different.
Then I saw the photo.
You can’t fool me, I know his bedroom windowsill when I see it… and the horror was inside….
Not just unfaithful. Oh no. That would be bad enough…
Unfaithful with… wait for it… a cat!
No some cute little baby cat either, but a purrfect puss… all grown and trained!
She tells me it isn’t serious… not really a permanent relationship. As if that makes it any better! The cat hasn’t actually, properly, moved in…yet. Yet? Ha! I smelled the catnip on her shoes!
Well!
So she sat me down and cuddled me. Promised me there would be no fleas invading. And we had a long talk. She reminded me that love goes a long way… that you can love loads of people… all in different ways. And that giving a heart full of love away just makes more love. I get that. So I suppose I’ll just have to accept the fiendish feline.
I can at least be pretty certain we won’t ever meet… not if he likes the cat anyway…
…but I don’t have to like it.
Maybe she’ll let me comfort-eat, just to make up for it?
I think I’ll go chase a mouse. Or something.
Much love,
Ani

Poor Ani. At least you don’t have to share your cushion/settee/treats etc. I’m just grateful they don’t invite the ducks and swans in!! Much love , Maggie.

Ducks? They’re good to chase in summer 🙂

Good to chase, as are rabbits but I don’t here, and the swans hiss at me (threats of roast potatoes round their rumps soon stopped that). Naw, I prefer to chase pheasant, partridge, gulls or pigeons, much more fun! Besides, squirrels bite!

They bite?? Hrmph! I wouldn’t be having that!

Awww! Poor Ani! Well, look on the bright side, at least you don’t actually have to share a living space with the cat. Still, I feel your pain. I hope they see how hurt you are and allow you an extra treat… Or maybe two…?

Cheese, Ani, make her give you cheese. I think this will all be OK as long as the cat stays at its house and you two don’t have to meet. If you do meet, remember to keep your tender nose well away from cat claws.

Cheese is always good fo the nerves…though she says it should be cold rice pudding for heartbreak, or so her granny used to say.

Poor Ani, It was just the opposite in my house I had cats then I got a dog. I paid for that for a week but we kept the dog so they change their tactic. They [cats] would knock items down and put them near the dog so I would think the dog did it. Just saying Ani those cats can be tricky.

Thankfully, they don’t share a house… I doubt if the world is ready for Ani and a full grown stranger-cat together. Oddly though, she’s fine with kittens. Any baby creature seems to bring out the mothering instinct in her….

Yes my cats were more tolerant of a puppy than a full grown dog.

I think Ani might like a kitten…or another dog…but she’ll have to settle for the fish. Not a lot of room for more furries here.

Well Ani I wonder what is worse. Having a cat introduced or finding, on being rescued that ‘they were already here!’ Traumatised I was. A new home, all those cuddles and not one, but two of the chilling claws on paws. I give them a wide berth. If they come in when I’m around I just stay still until they’ve gone past. I don’t think they notice me. And he does share the bean bag with me, not them so that’s a result. Even so, if I could find a way to rehome then, believe me, in a heart beat… They all keep saying happy new year; not sure what they mean but i did get a fair bit of this enormous chicken thing they had a week or so ago. Maybe it’s to do with that. Happy new year to you my dear. Hope we meet one day. Mylo. xxxx

I was only little when I was rescued, so I prob’ly wouldn’t have minded so much… but being sort of … in my prime… I don’t fancy a mewling moggy adopting my boy at all. The other boy’s got one too! I’m disappointed in them …
That big chicken? I got most of this year’s one… legitimately this time too! 🙂
Happy new year, Mylo! xxx

Oh Ani, I feel your pain! We have this big ginger lump that lives next door, that I used to chase when it was small. Now it doesn’t even budge when I go near it and, well, it is quite big now, and I am a small dog too, and it looks at me spitefully….
