I will never forget the year that I was in high school and I worked at a garden center. Each day new plants would arrive, mostly from the greenhouses the business planted in all over our town. When I first saw a fushia, I was mesmerized by its beauty. I couldn’t get over the colors and the way the flowers hung. Oh so beautiful.

These little beauties are hardy too and survive happily outdoors all year.

Here they don’t like the cold winters. Do you think they have different strains that adapt to different climates?

You need to look for the hardy varieties that will die back in winter and regrow in spring… they can tolerate temperatures well below freezing.

Ah, finally – a flower I know! I’ve always loved a fuchsia – especially if it features that stunning purple. And again I love the way you see so much of life reflected in nature. Ballerinas and wind chimes. It’s so obvious when you say it. Brilliant. 🙂

I bet they are. I wish I could grow them, but I seem to be their nemesis. 😦

Ah, OK, maybe I’ll look into the hardy ones. They’ll need to be hardy if they live with me and in my garden! 😉
