Although we didn’t know it at the time,
Ballowal Barrow is a ‘Faery-Fort’.
It is situated close to a now disused tin-mine
and miners, during the late nineteenth century,
upon finishing their night shift, are said to have seen
lights burning over the barrow and faeries dancing there.
It would explain the sense of caution with which we approached the site.
Getting on the wrong side of the Faery-Folk is never advisable.

There is nothing like life off the beaten path… Next to the pool at the base of our village cascade is the remains of an old mill. Perhaps after the next rain, if sufficent, I shall have to walk over and take some new shots?

I might take a few shots during my morning walk but not do a post until I can add some shots just after the rain. As in many places, things are rather dry at the moment. Thanks Sue 🙂
