They promised snow and for once they got it right. Okay, it has rained all day, so I wasn’t holding my breath for a beautiful snowy vista from the window. But it did snow. And Ani dashed outside chasing snowflakes, catching them and licking them off the grass, insisting the doors be kept open for her to play…
Getting a clear shot was impossible as she dived around in delight as the first flakes fell. I eventually conviced her to come in, with promises of a long walk at whatever hour a decent amount of snow fell… if it did. She was not pleased… but by this time I was freezing.
Sadly, the snow stopped after half an hour, melting away as if it had never been, replaced by the standard soggy drizzle. And the boundless energy of the happy hound was replaced by a distincly mournful mutt as I attempted to get her dry.
It’s nice to finally have snow, but at this point in California, we’ve almost got too much. Ski areas are closing because they have too much snow! But at least half the state is out of a drought now.

That’s something at least. I know the drought has been dreadful. You could send any excess to my back yard 😉

Oh bless her!!! Ours fell for over an hour but it is melting now… Ice rink roads in the morning me thinks!!!

Raining here today and melting the snow. It’s been a strange winter with the weather this year.

There’s little passion in British weather…we seldom go to extremes. Apart from panicking at a couple of inches of snow 🙂

couple of inches! 2 mm

We didn’t even get that tonight.

You’d be surprised how people panic and forget how to drive each time it snows here. Not to mention how they make a mad rush to the stores and clean out all the food, milk and water at the announcement of each and every impending storm. We humans are an interesting lot. 😉

No I wouldn’t 🙂 We do the same for much less here.

Poor Ani, missing out on some fun. Maggie’s not too keen.
Our snow here was only snizzle, but according to the radar picture and forecast for tonight, it’s going to be pretty heavy, and damn cold! Maggie is having her final walk in about ten minutes, then we’re all going to be tucked up for the night, so let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Let it snow here. If I wake at two in the morning and there;s enough snow, we’re going out to play 🙂

Mylo’s been keen to try and have a romp but then bottles it; this may be his first experience and he’s not as brave as Ani. If any stays then it might be interesting in the morning.

I’m still hoping to wake to several inches in spite of the forecast. I love seeing Ani play in the snow 🙂

Our dog Fyffe was the opposite today and he took delight in being indoors all day long. He has an outside house but we felt it just too cold for him and he agreed. The snow didn’t last long here either but my children bagged some and put it in one of our freezers.

We actually didn’t receive much either and I’m unsure where they got it…I overheard something about scraping the window ledges. A bit of fun for them, sorry Ani didn’t enjoy the same!

Children will find whatever snow there is 🙂 Ani keeps looking outside in hope…

My dogs feel very sorry that Ani only had a few flakes to play with. They love snow, the deeper the better. If they have to “porpoise” through it, their bodies disappearing as the go down, they are in puppy heaven.

She has seen that just once, Trent…we get very little snow here, but she absolutely loves it.

I hate to think of what was going through her mind at that moment. But at least she knows where her towel is 😉

Haha! My behaviour wasn’t much more civilized than Ani’s. I went out to catch snowflakes wearing my pyjamas with a coat and shoes thrown on over them… Twice! Hubby had to make me come in.
We didn’t get loads of snow, but I enjoyed what we had. They say we might get more… I hope so!

Shame it was so shortlived, especially for Ani. We didn’t get any, but just a few miles away they had quite a lot. We kept seeing cars and lorries going by covered in the stuff!

I’ll bet they had some the other side of town closer to the Chilterns. I might see it on the skyline, but Ani is staring out of the window this morning, looking disappointed.

I don’t know why I’m so keen on having snow. The last time we had any, the town was totally cut off from the rest of the world for 24 hours!

Now, as that would mean I get to have long snowy walk with Ani fllowed by a hot bath and a day off, that would do me nicely 🙂

I knew she’s go crazy if it snowed! Sorry, Ani, that it didn’t last. Ours didn’t either – we had temps in the 70s yesterday – 20 degrees about normal – and everything melted.
