I hate when flowers pop open because the plant gets confused about what season it is due to unseasonal warmth… not what the poem was really about, but it reminded me of it.

It was inspired by a garden that seems determined to believe it is spring. Even the anemones are in bloom.

It is getting colder, but a close inspection shows buds on many of the spring flowers we planted and even the roses are flowering, growing…and supporting a new batch of aphids.
