Breathe #midnighthaiku

Momentary peace

Unruffled calm soothes the soul

Time and space to breathe

With dark clouds moving in behind us, Nick and I paused on our journey north to take in the tranquility of Carsington Water, near Ashbourne in Derbyshire. The forecast was not promising and the weekend would be a busy one. The chance to just sit and breathe for a while was welcome.

But, although the weather was not promising, I took the Green Man carved into a wooden frame as a good sign for the Lord of the Deep weekend for which we were bound. The last workshop Stuart had written, Leaf and Flame, had featured the symbolism of the Green Man throughout and he had been given a wooden mask for the wall, very similar to this carved face… and that had been a spectacular workshop. Little synchronicities like this can mean a great deal when the tension is mounting!

That’s true, Sue. The little things can mean a lot when pressure mounts. I sometimes wonder if they’re little messages of reassurance from otherworldly powers. Clearly this one was right! I don’t know Carsington Water but it looks lovely. Maybe I should go and find that little Green Man… 🙂
