Promoting yourself – Craig Boyack

Reblogged from Craig Boyack at the Story Empire Blog, some thoughts on promotong your work… and while you are reading, remember that a guest post doesn’t always have to be a direct promotional post for a book. It can be about the writing, illustrating or research, choosing a cover, editing tips… or just a personal post or anecdote that allows readers to get to know you. And, as Craig points out, those of us who offer guest post spots are always hoping someone will approach us with an idea for a post 🙂

Hi gang, there are so many angles on self promotion that I can’t cover them all. This post is going to work on one concept, but it’s a fairly valid process.

So you finish your masterpiece and poke your head into the world to see if anyone noticed. You started a blog and mentioned that you wrote a book.

Both of your followers thought that was cool, but neither one of them bought a copy. This is actually normal. If you already had a blog with thousands of followers your results would have been better.
