Champagne nights
Fool their prisoners.
They die, bleeding,
Drinking salty lies
From a poisoned glass
Of broken desire.

The soft kiss
Of a young morning…
Or dazzle of a star
In a velvet sky
Heals the naked heart
Waking it to joy
And eternity’s laughter.

“The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away…Blessed be the name of the Lord.” I was taught that long, long ago.
