Guest author: Judy Martin – Niche writer?

I had such a lovely time round at Sue’s before that I have come back again for another visit. Luckily, she didn’t slam the door in my face, and in fact, made me feel very welcome. As my blog is less niche and more mish-mash,  I found it a little tricky as to what to write…

I am not a writer per se

I do not have exotic holidays

No huge weightloss to boast

No recipes to post

And I don’t work out every day!

*

I am pretty rubbish at art

With SEO, I don’t even know where to start

At fashion, I fail

And dancing as well

And for marketing, I don’t have the heart.

*

Giving parenting advice, I will pass

Photography, I’d be bottom of the class

My sewing is erratic

I’m no gardening fanatic

And I can’t tell you how best to clean glass!

*

There is not that much I can do

Except write a fun poem or two

A limerick or verse

Is my way to converse

And hope that it entertains you.

About the author

Judy Martin has just turned fifty and has entered a new phase in her life. She recently started work as an Associate Nurse in the community and loves it, finally finding her niche. She has in the past, done everything from serving as a soldier in the Women’s Royal Army Corps, to helping manage a kebab shop!

Judy has been writing humorous poems since she was a little girl. She has always had a love of words, and expressing herself through rhyme is so appealing. She enjoys the rhythm of the words as they dance to her tune.

She draws her inspiration from everyday events that most of us can relate to and puts her unique spin on it. Her large family is often her inspiration, as is the weather, the seasons,housework, even sex. No subject is safe from manipulation into verse!

Judy lives in the beautiful county of Kent with her long-suffering husband Bob, (Mr Grump), daughter Lucinda (Miss Hap), and not forgetting Roxy, the beautiful Cavalier King Charles spaniel.

Rhymes of the Times

Are you one of those people that barge through life, trying to get through it as best as you can, swimming against the everyday worries and stresses of life? Well, I have found a way to make it much more enjoyable. Don’t you think everything sounds better when it rhymes? I certainly do. In fact, I have found that everything from doing the housework to growing older, can sound more positive and less daunting when made into a little ditty. This book is about finding the humour, or raising a smile from the everyday things that we can all relate to in life, and looking at them from a different perspective. Nothing escapes versification; there is even a subject on sex! After all, that is one subject where there is plenty of room for laughter, even if it may not be the right moment!

About Sue Vincent

Sue Vincent was a Yorkshire born writer, esoteric teacher and a Director of The Silent Eye. She was immersed in the Mysteries all her life. Sue maintained a popular blog and is co-author of The Mystical Hexagram with Dr G.M.Vasey. Sue lived in Buckinghamshire, having been stranded there due to an accident with a blindfold, a pin and a map. She had a lasting love-affair with the landscape of Albion, the hidden country of the heart. Sue  passed into spirit at the end of March 2021.

    I hear you. I don’t have a niche, either. I’m completely and utterly nicheless. But, when you rhyme about it, you make it sound kind of cool. 🙂

    We know not where we stand

        I haven’t even ‘given it a go’ yet – most of the ‘advice out there’ seems rather false, to me, I’d rather just write/connect and make sure my website, when launched, loads fast, is easy to navigate – etc., just seems less work than some of the contortionistic stuff that is SOOO WAY MORE WORK, later on, to maintain, than just being who you are – LOL I realize I need to jump over and follow you – cuz, ya realize, to me, I see local word-of-mouth on online cyber community “hey, check this out” as the sane way to build a platform without messing with that pesky, marketing advice – – LOL – slower, sure, but, so much more fun and stress free!!! LOL

    Lol, you’re so cute Judy. I loved your poem, although I do think you’re being a tad too hard on yourself. And I do enjoy when you write little stories about your work and family too, and they aren’t always in rhyme. So there’s more to you than just being a poet. 🙂

    Poetry and making us laugh with what you write is your gift, Judy. What’s the saying? “Go with writing what you like to write about most.” You certainly do that, and it always shines.
