The illusion of reality

What is reality?

Rosicrucians talk of both ‘reality’ and ‘actuality’. They define reality as essentially what you can perceive about the actuality. Actuality most likely cannot ever be known. You can only determine your personal reality of actuality but this reality is actually an illusion. A self-made illusion. For example, time is both a reality and an illusion. It is simply a construct of the mind that is required by the Law of the Universal Mind, to allow for movement and experience. Reality – your reality – is created via the imagination and your belief system. Your culture, upbringing, beliefs and yes- the rules you live life by – all go into creating your reality. But that reality is an illusion – a wakeful dream. It is not actuality. All of us fall into the trap of believing in this reality and we all work magic, as the basis of magic is the creation of reality via our belief and imagination. Belief is faith and it really does move mountains because it helps us to create reality.

We know that everything we experience is actually experienced in our brain. Everything that we see, feel or hear is actually experienced via our brain’s ability to interpret our environment. This is science. So what we believe to be on the outside is in fact, inside of us. The real part of me is simply consciousness and what that actually is from a scientific point of view, is still something of a mystery. Not being quantum physicists, we don’t wish to go too far with an analysis of what actuality might be but there does seem to be a school of thought that says that everything is energy and that it takes the observation of a conscious being to collapse that waveform into particles and matter. In plain English, we create reality through the act of observation.

If everything really is inside of us or, our experience of our environment is inside of us, then logic suggests that we must create this reality as an interpreted image of actuality – whatever that may be. Herein lies the basis of magic. If, we are able to consciously influence our reality using natural laws, then we are capable of making magic. Both mystical magic in that we can change ourselves via the will and physical magic in that we can cause an effect in our environment beyond ourselves.

Of course, there are all kinds of implications to these simplest of statements. However, if we wish to be able to perform this magic then we must first and foremost know ourselves. If we observe our reality then do we not create it? Want to change your reality? Change yourself. Change the way you see things, think about things. Change your internals. Because the act of observing doesn’t take place ‘out there’ but inside of you.

Interesting Sue. Then of course there is always the possibility we also exist in Parallel universes, so which one is reality?

Yes. In simple words, our perception defines our reality and that is precisely why everyone has his own reality of the same thing. Your article was informative and constructive! Good luck with the book! 🙂

We do shape our reality by what we think, our attitudes and beliefs. Of that I have no doubt.

  4. Oh, this is simply a kind of thing I would love to read. I read anything mystical. I read all kinds of philosophy and literatures books even though half of it are that difficult to understand. But it is a challenge and I like new knowledge which are extracts from the old lessons. I will definitely check on this. 🙂
