She moved with the sinuous grace of a dancer or a thief; sleek and deadly. Her eyes were wide, feigning innocence. Hiding secrets… She licked her lips, as if she liked the taste of blood.
The crime scene didn’t faze her, yet it was the worst I had ever seen. In my job, you see things you don’t want to remember.
He’d been cornered, caught in a dead end, a trap with no way out.
Blood spattered high up the walls. Gobbets of rent flesh clung to the paintwork. Dismembered life festered in scarlet pools on the pale carpet. The only thing she’d left intact was a foot, just one.
God knows what she’d done with the rest of him…
He must have struggled… fought back… the violence of the attack, the carnage…sickening.
This wasn’t just murder. This was slaughter.
I was glad I’d only had coffee. The clean-up was going to take some time…
I picked up the severed foot and bagged it. She didn’t even flinch.
I couldn’t work her out.
It wasn’t the first time we had faced each other over a corpse. How many had she killed? And why? She was young, beautiful… lacked for nothing. From the jewelled collar to the fur, this girl had it all.
She was guilty as sin.
And she was going to walk free…
…leaving me with another corpse to dispose of…
I’ve really gone off that cat…
Haha! Sometimes it’s like that with a cat!

I didn’t have a choice… and all that blood on a cream carpet too… and sprayed right up the walls. Poor pigeon. They mate for life too…

Oh my sorry you have to do the clean up that can be messy! I do sympathize with you. I have five cats and two are prolific hunters. Thankfully I only have to chase the live “offerings” around the house catch them and set them free. Of course that earns me a totally disgusted look from the feline provider.

I think I would prefer that… these mangled corpses are getting too much.

Sorry but it is the cat’s way especially if she is semi feral.

Brilliant, Sue. So far our little black cat, adopted a few weeks ago, has not demonstrated her hunting skills. This morning, though, she had hysterics when a bluebottle flew into the kitchen while she was having breakfast. She was terrified, abandoned her food and ran upstairs. We could hear her crashing around, knocking things over then haring back downstairs and hiding in the sitting room. She wasn’t evcen chasing the fly, it was still buzzing in the kitchen.

Bless her… not a hunter then…hopefully!

Haha. Typically if there is a murder in our house there is little carnage, just the corpse to dispose of. Claudius, however, used to meow pitifully until I removed the body. If I waited too long (because i didn’t realize there was a body), he’d get mad and crunch it up, making a huge mess…

I’ve dealt with a lot of her corpses, but this one was horrendous….

I’ve seen my fair share here… Just tonight, I found a dead mouse in the basement and a living flying squirrel, which brought on quite the hunt. It is now safely relocated in the town forest and Dave has a minor flesh wound. ❤

Now that’s funny, Sue. Great twist at the end. Something tells me she “will” kill again with no remorse. I think I know what happened to the rest of the victim. 😀 — Suzanne

Like it! My cat was the other way, totally fastidious in her presention of her kill, no mess, no blood.
Maybe she didn’t like the sight of it herself!

No but let’s hope it went to pigeon heaven. At the moment our cherry tree is designated as such. They are quite happy sitting on the branches and munching the cherries. Dante doesn’t phase them either. xxx

I was reading this and thinking “Sue never writes dark, violent stuff like this. What happened to her? Who wrote this and what did they do with Sue!?” Then, I got to the fur and collar. “Ani isn’t a killer,” I thought. “What’s going on?” CAT! Ha ha ha. My cat’s been delivering dead bodies to me all week.

Bodies I can cope with…but scrubbing the blood stains six feet up the wall and the pools on the carpet…too much….
