Notes from a small stellar dog, supplemental….

Ani winks

I know, I know… two posts… but well, it’s official. I’m a star. I’ve made it. I am an inspiration.. a muse… No, not amusing…a Muse….

Not only do I have my own followers, more fan mail than she gets and my own Facebook page now… quite apart from keeping in touch with you guys through the blog here…. I’ve even made it into their book!

Now, I will be having words with the ball-guy next time he’s here.. there seems to be some discrepancy in the spelling of my name… I can live with that… it is close enough and at least they’ve named me for a god….

Not quite so sure about the sex change, mind you…..This we may have to discuss….Still, it isn’t precisely a factual work… more an imaginative exploration… which is probably just as well, or I might have had to have some serious words about how my character is portrayed….

“…I find myself back at Wen’s.  I am standing in her back garden and Anu is waiting expectantly for my pitch… eyes focussed… long, pink tongue lolling out of one side of his mouth…It has been a while  but then… as the now familiar keen catches my ears and I look up to see the Red Kite gliding gracefully into view… I realise it has been no time at all… Anu bursts into frantic bark-mode. He loathes birds… all birds… especially big ones that fly so low… and especially those that interrupt his game of fetch…He is now clambering  up the wooden slats of the fence scratching at them frenetically in an attempt to get as close as he can to the intruder of his air space… The Kite seems magnificently unperturbed as usual… she banks and swoops looking this way and that and then rises effortlessly… with infinite leisure… pitches left and disappears over the roof of the house… They have more time in the air than other birds…and it strikes me that the reason for that is their wing-span… I wonder if time and wing-span could be linked symbolically and the image of Egyptian Isis with unfeasibly large wings springs immediately into my mind along with the phrase… Mistress of Eternity…”

Still… I even made it into the illustrations, and anyone who knows me can’t fail to recognise me, even from that paltry sketch…

Wonder if they’ll let me write a chapter in the next book? Hmmm…

Much love,
