Assuming boldness
Shielded from reality
Narrowing vision
Mere slivers of perception
Blind to possibility
*
Carapace protects
Fragile sensibilities
Letting no-one in
Inwardly vulnerable
Simulating bravado
*
Outmoded habits
Cling with the strength of cobwebs
Shroud the living dead
Hiding within illusion
Constructing their own prisons
*
They have lost their way
Those within a self-made cage
Seeing only bars
Oblivious of the door
That has always stood open.

About Sue Vincent
Sue Vincent was a Yorkshire born writer, esoteric teacher and a Director of The Silent Eye. She was immersed in the Mysteries all her life. Sue maintained a popular blog and is co-author of The Mystical Hexagram with Dr G.M.Vasey. Sue lived in Buckinghamshire, having been stranded there due to an accident with a blindfold, a pin and a map. She had a lasting love-affair with the landscape of Albion, the hidden country of the heart. Sue passed into spirit at the end of March 2021.
We all put on this armor from time to time. (K)

I love the lines: “Outmoded habits / Cling with the strength of cobwebs”
And the ending message is so sad, and often true. Wonderful poem, Sue.
