Ah, the refreshing waves of the ocean (or perhaps just of a lake’s beach). When I saw this photo (courtesy of Sue Vincent), with the crashing waves and the picturesque background of the sky, it reminded me strongly of a similar vista.

That vista that I am referring to was a much shorter voyage: it was about 3 miles north-northeast of my current apartment, when I saw this wonderful sky overlooking Lake Michigan a couple of years ago (see below).

But, the waves will get bigger tomorrow, as I, and my family, are about to embark on an Alaskan cruise, which will be my first time on a cruise ship since January 2001.

And how different travel in 2001 was from now for me…
