A big thank you to Sue for hosting me and letting me do a fun book promotion for Legends of Windemere: Charms of the Feykin.  This is the 11^th book of the series, but each story is self-contained enough that you can jump right into it.  Now, I was going to write about how . . . Sorry . . . Phone call.  Be right back.

Is he gone?  I saw some of the other characters do stuff like this, so I wanted to try.  This is a guest post, right?  I should introduce myself, but I’m a secret.  One of those pesky champions might read this and figure out who I am.  That would ruin my plan and revenge.  Although, I could just put a little trick on this and all those fools will see is a recipe for Strawberry Mushroom Parfait.  Disgusting treat that these Feykin enjoy.  Now, I want to instruct all of you on how to defeat the champions.  This way one of you can continue my work if I happen to be defeated.  Here is what I’ve learned about them.

1. Luke Callindor– I’ve dealt with swordsmen before, but this one is more dangerous than people realize. He might not be the strongest or smartest champion, but his speed and ability to think on his feet have saved the day far too many times.  Best to eliminate him quickly and draw out the doubt that remains in his heart.  After all these years, the youngest Callindor is still unsure if he’s famous for his own deeds or his legendary surname.  Make him believe he can’t protect somebody and you can cause him to lose a step.  Then, go in for the kill.
2. Nyx– This caster worries me more than all, but one, of the others. Her magic is terrifying and she’s only become stronger since she left home. Even worse, this woman is very protective of her friends and family. She puts mother dragons to shame and probably causes just as much damage. My suggestion is to avoid a face-to-face confrontation at all costs.  Nyx seems to have a problem with illusions, so that could help with a trap that will keep her out of the action.  I’d say save her until last, but you don’t want her to get angry about the death of her friends.
3. Sari– This beautiful gypsy is cunning, observant, friendly, and has enough abilities that it would take at least seven layers of defenses to contain her. That’s only if she decides not to put effort into her escape. Hate to admit that this girl is the very definition of master thief. She’s another one that can get protective of family, especially Nyx who she calls her ‘big sister’.  All that being said, Sari has to be the easiest target here. Poor thing has been through so many traumas that her heart and mind are always on the verge of shattering. Just need to give her that final push.
4. Timoran Wrath– I hate barbarians! Bad enough that they are a physical threat and you’re dead if an angry one catches you. These savages have an infuriating level of willpower that makes mind magic practically useless. Timoran could be even worse than your average barbarian too. You can tell since he’s so kind, well-mannered, and philosophical instead of looking for a fight. I hear it’s because his tribe is one of the few that has learned to control their rage instead of letting it explode unchecked. Find an assassin that he either won’t suspect or couldn’t bring himself to hurt. If you can’t find anyone then get him to go away and stop him from coming back.
5. Dariana– Not even sure where to start with this silver-haired monster. She looks unassuming, but she is so awkward and quick to apologize that you wouldn’t think she is a threat. Only reason I know is that I’ve been studying her for years and know how to get around her telepathy. Keep that busy and you turn her into a useless fool that will never see the real danger coming. Still, there is a reason I fear her more than the others. While Nyx can destroy you physically, Dariana can tear your mind apart and leave you a twitching husk of flesh. I’d rather be killed than meet that fate.
6. Fizzle– Such a cute, little Drite. Love his dragonfly wings and how his tail can grab things. Powerful magic in such a small body, but he’d be such a great pet. See if you can get a control spell or relic on him. If that fails, kill the little dragon’s mind since he’s nothing more than a tagalong.
7. Delvin Cunningham– Calm, noble, honest, highly skilled, and loyal, which are words you don’t typically attach to someone once known as the Mercenary Prince. He isn’t as flashy as his friends, but that works to his advantage. After dealing with the other champions, you can get caught off-guard by a guy that uses simple strategies like blocking and countering. I hear that he’s considered the tactician of the champions, which means he could be the key to getting them all. Manipulate Delvin and he can bring all the others to where you want them to be.

Now . . . Oops. Have to go. Nobody saw anything.

Nyx is leading the charge to rescue Delvin and Sari, who have gone missing in the southern jungles of Windemere. Battling through the local predators, the champions are surprised when they reunite in the Feykin city of Rhundar. Instead of captives, the missing heroes have become the city’s rulers and are on the verge of starting a war with those that want to exterminate their new followers. Even with such a noble cause, Delvin and Sari have changed into brutal warlords that may kill each other and their friends long before they step onto the battlefield.

Have Delvin and Sari really changed for the worst or is there a greater threat pulling the champions’ strings?
