An evening with friends

St Michael's Tower, Glastonbury

St Michael’s Tower, Glastonbury

Tonight Steve, Stuart  and I will be in Glastonbury. Not, of course, that we will be enjoying ourselves in the slightest…. who could possibly enjoy being in a much-loved town, set within a beautiful landscape teeming with archaeology and symbolism and with friends too…. A town, more over, whose cellars hold my favourite cider…Particularly when we will be doing something we love….

Such hardship… the sacrifices we make…. *small person chokes on coffee…wondering if the agent of divine retribution understands the finer points of irony….*

Home Glade web+Glast wdsThere is even an Italian restaurant of which I have many fond memories… particularly of Sicilian waiters chasing my friend through the streets with forgotten clothing… (before she murders me, I must stress these were outer layers, but it was a superb evening…)

Not that we are likely to do more than grab a sandwich this evening as we have work to do, with the first of our series of talks  under the aegis of the Glastonbury Pilgrim Reception Centre.

We will be exploring how the threads of spirituality run through the everyday world in which we live, and for this first evening we are looking at some of the major spiritual and magical paths and the way they are linked; spokes on a wheel, starting from many different points, yet converging upon a single centre, getting closer the nearer you move towards it.

I will be leading two guided meditations  and there will be plenty of time to explore and question.

We are really looking forward to the evening; we will be sharing something we are passionate about, and doing it with a little laughter too. The spiritual journey may be one that must be undertaken in all seriousness, but it is a path best trod lightly and with joy.

Come and join us for the evening if you can… and if I know you through your writing, please come up and say hello. It would be lovely to meet you. If you can’t be there… wish us well as we begin this new adventure!
