Initiating countdown…

Ok, we are poised… In precisely six weeks the Silent Eye will be born. We are right on the brink of releasing the final brochure for the Launch of the School. We have really pulled the stops out this time and included a full programme for the weekend, a little about our teaching methods and what we seek to share, as well as the background from which it was born.

We tell a little of the story of the ritual drama that will unfold in the temple space throughout the weekend. Seeking shelter from the storm within the monastery of the Keepers of the First Flame, a group of Pilgrims encounter the Troubadours and a Child of strange purity. No, you’ll have to read the brochure to learn more of the Company and their mission….

We are blessed and privileged to have people joining us from England, Scotland and Wales, from Europe and even from as far away as Canada and the United States. We could not have asked for such support for the birth of our School and it is deeply moving to see people coming from near and so very far to share this moment with us.

As soon as I have the final draft of the brochure I will post it here. Please join us if you are able, or pass the details to others you know who might care to do so. There are a few places left. I would dearly love to see them all filled. The School has been the dream of my fellow director, Steve, for many years. Instead of planning his retirement, he spoke to me a year ago of the ideas he had.

At first I did not think it was for me. I was happy studying where I was, under a Director of Studies I love with all my heart. Yet as emails flew and I began to understand, it drew me. Life arranged itself very conveniently as I was bitten by the same passion for the vision we now share. His original vision has evolved and grown as we have worked together, melding our ideas and what we have each been given to teach.

You cannot classify it easily, it does not fit the standard moulds. We have likened it to a beautiful jewel half hidden and dusty in a heavy Victorian setting … what we seek to do is take it out and clean it, restoring it and placing it in a minimalist design of simple beauty where it can sparkle with its own Light.

So together we are building our School. The sheer depth of the work Steve personally is putting into this is magnificent and beautiful. There is no one beside whom I would rather stand as we launch the Silent Eye in April.

I began this post almost bouncing at what is coming together here. Indeed, I had just written of how it feels to a friend, as if the sheer joy of it is big enough to embrace a world. Yet writing this, the reality and beauty of the support we have been given from all corners of the globe has hit home. The sheer volume and warmth of the support for what we seek to do and for my own writing here is a humbling experience. I sit here in tears, deeply grateful and moved beyond words. With no less joy, but a deep, fierce gladness and awe at the beauty of the gift of trust we are being shown and in what we are about to do.

Thank you.

In Light,

Sue Vincent
