    A virginal rose
    White and pristine
    the calcium of bone
    the shells of eggs
    the grounds of coffee
    complete the feed
    roses are brats
    beautiful in their annual colors
    i raised them for awhile
    and then found them new mothers.

    Yesterday, my gardenia bush gave its first blooms of the season. So beautiful, and so fragile. Touch a petal too hard and it will yellow. A ‘hands-off’ appreciation.
