There may be just a short intermission…
She has gone to the doctor’s you see,
So while she is off gallivanting,
You’ll just have to put up with me.
She had done all the housework this morning,
(I can put it to rights now she’s gone)
Then she gave me a treat and a cuddle
And then left saying, “See you anon…”
I know that she must be out working
To keep me in chicken and cheese,
But it’s boring with no-one to play with,
And I almost wish that I had fleas!
At least I could wriggle and scratch ‘em
But instead I just twiddle my paws,
When there’s pigeons to chase in the garden
And me? I’m just stuck here indoors.
It’s been ages since we went out walking…
Me and her, you know, two-legs and Beast…
Been so long that I’ve almost forgotten…
It must be a whole hour at least!
She hasn’t had much chance for writing,
‘Cause the ‘puter went weird, then played up…
And she called it some names I’m not saying,
Ones that shouldn’t be heard by a pup.
So I’ve hijacked her chair and her keyboard
And thought that I’d write for a while
And watch the dogs howling on youtube,
At least that’ll give me a smile.
She’d quite like me to sing like a huskie,
Or howl like a wolf in the dark,
But I have my own talent with language
And specialise mainly in Bark.
But the house is too quiet without her
And I’m wondering if she’s gone far
I suppose I should just check the window
And keep an ear cocked for the car.
I’d hate her to think that I missed her
Or that I might whimper and weep.
So I’ll just make a nest in the cushions
And settle down quiet to sleep.
Beautiful Sue, enjoy every minute with your precious .

Hi Ani, Dante here. You are an awesome poet. I sympathise with you, my friend, they leave me too, to go to doctors or shops I can`t get into. Life is strange in the human world, all the don`t do that, can`t do that rules don`t they know how to play anymore?

A lot of them seem to have forgotten how, Dante… But they have us to remind them 😉 xxx

Awww. How could you leave Ani for so long by herself, Sue? A whole dreadful, miserable, torturous, forlorn hour! Ha ha. Adorable pictures.

Ani is becoming to eloquent Sue.. and she has obviously been honing her skills at verse.. perhaps she should publish her own collection…Doggeral in Verse by Ani…. great poem

Odd you should mention that…she was thinking of her next book being called Doggerel…Though whether I should let he publish another is debatable. She gets enough fan mail as it is 🙂

Well I would have thought that you might get an agent’s fee at the very least. Sam had a degree from a very prestigious American university in Doggeral.. XX

Oh Ani dear Listen to me here Once I had flees Brought me straight to my knees My two-legs mom cleared it up I wouldn’t wish it on a pup! When my mom gets on that boxy thing with keys She can get quite aloof You’re not alone! At least you’re allowed cheese… From Allegro, a wag and a woof 🙂

You’re lucky she lets you on the sofa, Ani. My two-legged won’t let me on ours (believe me, I have tried so many times, they now store the cushions upright). I do have my my own bed (three actually, in different rooms) but they aren’t as comfy as their furniture. They finally gave in and allowed me on the large ottoman. Those dreadful cats can go the furniture, why can’t I? big doggie sighs from your pal, Wren.

Hiya Wren, dead unfair if you ask me. Cats get everywhere… My two legs is allowed on MY sofa sometimes…but only if I’m gonna get cuddles 😉 Much love, Ani xxx

You displayed remarkable patience, Ani, in the face of utter boredom. I know about sofa cushions – I have my favorite one, and get very upset if my two leggeds sit on it. Of course I do have to share the sofa with this overweight furry ball. He thinks it’s his sofa, and he swats me when I get a little too personal. You should expect cuddles now!

Hi Angel, I let them on my sofa sometimes, the two legs… she’ll come and cuddle from time to time, and the ball-guy is fun to sit on 🙂 Not sure I’d share with a cat though….
