Mister Fox in Holmfirth

Nick fox weekend barbrook 054

Flames light the night and the beat of the drum calls…

Nick fox weekend barbrook 058

Guardians await the coming of the Silver Fox…

Nick fox weekend barbrook 063

Foxes prowl the night…

Nick fox weekend barbrook 071

…and the revellers become aware… and they follow.

Nick fox weekend barbrook 074

Music fills the night…

Nick fox weekend barbrook 087

Trees blossom with fireflowers…

Nick fox weekend barbrook 090

and strange creatures, half seen in the shadows.

Nick fox weekend barbrook 093

The Silver Fox lights the torches…

Nick fox weekend barbrook 102

Many flock to the banner…

Nick fox weekend barbrook 107

Dragons dance in the flames…

Nick fox weekend barbrook 134

…and a giant Crow challenges the Silver Fox.

Nick fox weekend barbrook 143

…but he is no match for the feral fire.

Nick fox weekend barbrook 148

and he flees into the shadows.

Nick fox weekend barbrook 150

A shaft of flame from the staff of the Silver Fox lights the braziers…

Nick fox weekend barbrook 159

and the Foxes dance, triumphant.

Nick fox weekend barbrook 500

Esto Audax…Esto Ferox.

England, as an old country, should have more things like this.
I mean, I LITERALLY live 10 minutes away from a castle that was built in the 10th century.
Why are we not so interesting!?

I live close to an ancient settlement, a Roman road and Saxon remains… and few in the village know about them. But this event is in England… Yorkshire…and the Foxes are most definitely local 🙂
