Earth Magic – Brno ~ G. Michael Vasey

Recently, I finished building a website for an initiative I have long contemplated. It has though turned out differently to what I had originally thought of. Back in the day, I had thought to set up a magical lodge based around the received material published in the Mystical Hexagram book that Sue Vincent and I published a few years back. I felt that the material was important and by building a lodge affiliated to a school, I would be working with the true intent behind the content. For those who haven’t read that book, I would say it positions the hexagram as a key to unlocking more from other systems…. Being me, what I hadn’t banked on was frankly the politics that seem to envelop many occult groups…..

Sue Vincent and I – The first time we met although we had known each other far ages and even written a book together!

But then things shifted for me. I affiliated with a different school in the Silent Eye where I knew two of the three principals and got to know the third rather quickly as well. It was Sue Vincent and Sturt France that just a couple or so years ago took a long weekend out to take me on a magical tour…. one that followed their start down this path in their wonderful book – The Initiate.

Great photo! Meeting people we have worked with and/or been associated with remotely is interesting, and it shows in this picture of the two of you. Most of my best friends now are people I met online, in the blog mostly. I want to say how much I have appreciated “knowing” you here Sue, and interacting through the blogging community. These relationships live on indefinitely and remain in the “comments” and “likes” forever. 🙂

It was good to finally meet Gary in person, but the friendship had been cemented long before,

I got that, I was referring to meeting you myself on the blogging sphere a few years ago. You were one of the first to comment on my return to blogging recently after a long sulk. It was nice to see the gang still there. I will miss you, but thanks to the nature of the digital universe our posts will live on indefinitely. 🙂

          I remember 🙂
Somewhere along the way we meet so many people here… but there are those who seem to stay in memory and, as you say their work remains, along with conversations shared… so death, departure… change of lifestyles… they are less ‘permanent’ in some ways….

It occurs to me sometimes that online, in chat rooms or even on a trip with several people whom I don’t know, I could be anyone that I say I am. But when it come right down to it, I am the same old me…nothing more and nothing less.

That is something we have all…or mostly… grown into over the past decade or so, While there are those whostill take advantage of the anonymity offered, I think most folk are just simple themselves these days,
