Trout sat on the back deck. His sister exited through the open patio door, holding a bowl of something. She stood beside him and dug her finger in, pulling something out and popping it in her mouth.
Grapes. Green and seedless.
“She lied about the crows, you know,” she said, her tongue thick with juice.
Trout knew, but played along.
