Homecoming colours Welcome after long absence Summer's soul displayed

August, I muttered to myself, ruddy August.

Roadworks, holiday traffic, hold-ups… For the first hundred miles, that was the litany playing through my disgruntled mind as I drove north. My head was still pounding unpleasantly and the sun was, for once, unwelcome. Not that I ever mind driving north, regardless of annoyances on the roads. On the contrary, pointing that way always lifts my spirits and they had been pretty low after the virus and lingering headaches that had kept me offline and on the sofa for most of the week.

August… hrmph….

Except, that means…

…it is August!!!

I was suddenly bouncing at the wheel impatiently, desperate to reach the hill above Bakewell. That would be my first glimpse. There was a shaft of sunlight on the hills as I drove the last stretch… and through the inner gloom, the purple appeared, crowning the moors, clothing them in beauty.

A glance at the clock told me I had half an hour or so….

Ooohheather!” said my text; my friend would grin, knowing exactly what that meant… I would  be late.

There is a special Providence that sighs and looks after fools. I parked the car, leaving all my stuff on view inside it… one window open, the driver’s door not even closed… I really hadn’t been well…

And off I went to play in the heather.

By the time I finally arrived at my destination… only a little late… the heather had worked its magic. I was beaming.

Who wouldn’t be?

Beautiful. The heather is amazing. I hope the evil virus has now left your system. I got attacked by mine again yesterday what a nightmare. I looked like a newly risen corpse, which in my youth I so wanted to look like, (goes with being a goth territory), i was not happy. This wasn`t make up which i could wash off. I spent the day on the sofa and Dante kept bringing me his, smelly, toys trying to cheer me up, bless him.
