While I may wish that my inner alarm clock could be switched off as easily as the mechanical contraption that normally screeches me awake at some ungodly hour, I was glad to be woken by the kiss of dawn… just to walk the few yards through the dew-drenched grass that now desperately needs cutting, down to the fence, to watch the morning mists turn gold. The soft light was gentle on aching eyes, the warmth a mere shiver away from chilled and the fresh silence a beautiful antidote to fevered dreams and a mind that had spent the night being weirder than my normal weird.
The sparrows that I knew I would miss from my old garden have a contingent nesting on my roof…and feeding in my garden. There were rabbits in the field and my scruffy robin, now almost fully fledged, was already after his breakfast.
Ani and I sat on the damp chairs of the very wonky and grandly-named patio, quietly accepting the gift of the dawn… a beautiful few moments…
…until a damnable hot-air balloon invaded what Ani has designated ‘her’ airspace and all hell broke loose….

Oops…
Hope the mayhem calmed down quickly! 🙂

It could be worse. A hot air balloon beats out a traffic copter.

Fair enough Ani, you have a right to a peaceful sunrise. You would have enjoyed one of those intrusive monsters going down in the water of our bay recently.

By the sound of things, you were well-compensated for your untimely awakening. I absolutely love the early morning. It’s the best time of the day in my opinion. 🙂

When we lived just outside of town, we had a lot of these, and I never did decide if I liked them or not, all that heavy breathing noise they make as they fire up!
Hope you are on the mend, Sue!

I like the hot air balloons myself… Ani doesn’t. I think she sees them as being akin to dragons… and that means she has to defend me.

Sounds beautiful and peaceful, that is until the balloon showed up. Wren goes bonkers over anything invading her air space, too. Even crows!

We get whole clouds of crows and jackdaws daily… Ani now chooses to ignore those unless they land 😉
