I’m not a fan of slugs, not as a rule, fascinating though they are. This one though caught my eye with its markings….and the fact that this particular ‘Breakfast in Slug Town’ was on the carved cross at Capel Non….a reminder, perhaps that the spiritual quest is one undertaken by all… and is part of every moment.

About Sue Vincent
Sue Vincent was a Yorkshire born writer, esoteric teacher and a Director of The Silent Eye. She was immersed in the Mysteries all her life. Sue maintained a popular blog and is co-author of The Mystical Hexagram with Dr G.M.Vasey. Sue lived in Buckinghamshire, having been stranded there due to an accident with a blindfold, a pin and a map. She had a lasting love-affair with the landscape of Albion, the hidden country of the heart. Sue passed into spirit at the end of March 2021.
I’m definitely not a fan of slugs. They aren’t a problem around here, but they were a big problem in New York. Yet, for all that, I have become increasingly aware that every creature, however icky I find them, has a place and a right to exist. And, maybe, even a lesson to teach us. Even slugs.

Yes… I agree with you there, marilyn. Slugs are one of Nature’s clean-up artists and perfectly designed for their job. Which involves being ooutside and not nder my bare feet, please.

Ugh, hard to not despise these creatures but I must agree, this one is interesting and like none I have come across in my own garden before. Great haiku to accompany the pic Sue. 🙂

I just don’t want them in my garden, in my house…or under my feet, thank you. Otherwise, they really are fascinating 🙂

I cannot pretend to like them, they eat too many of my plants for that…

I don’t care for slugs based on what they do to my hosta plants, but there’s something fascinating about the way they look and their movements nonetheless.
Love the haiku with the pic. Nicely done!

They really are fascinating creatures… but not my favourite housemates or garden visitors, I must say.
