Notes from a small dog XLIX

IMGP0015I thought I’d better step in today… you’ll get no sense out of her at all. She’s gone all weird. Again.

Well yeah… weirder

Sort of… gooey

Don’t ask me why… all I know is it feels a bit like puppies… and it has something to do with one of my boys. And seeing as how he has a cat, I’m not sure how the whole puppy thing fits in.

No doubt all will become clear… eventually…

She’s definitely up to something though… ever since the phone rang at half past five this morning…

All I know is she seems really weird… even for her!… Her eyes keep leaking and she’s got the camera out. Not that that’s unusual, of course. Never goes anywhere without it… you might have noticed.

I mean, I can’t even get a bath with any assurance of privacy! Not that I want one, of course. How would she like it if I followed her in there with the camera? Not that I will, mind you… she’s just as likely to grab me and do rotten, horrid things with the shampoo… not going near that bathtub ever again…

Not willingly anyway… she’ll have to catch me first…and I’ve got more legs than she has…

IMGP0330

She, on the other hand, appears to be getting ready to wallow again. Now, I ask you… middle of the day… what does she want to do that for? And she’ll enjoy it! There’s weird for you! There’s scrubby stuff all lined up and steam everywhere… when she could be taking me for a nice long walk through muddy fields instead! I tried to convince her that mud is good for my fur… and her skin… but she’s not having it at all.

In fact, I can’t say she’s been much use to me today so far.

Apart from breakfast. And the early walk. And a couple of treats. The ginger biscuit was nice too… though I’m not sure she left it there for me exactly… But heigh ho… she’d only get fat…

I really don’t understand this addiction to water though. She’s not a whale (mainly because I look after her waistline by eating anything she leaves lying around…) so why does she want to wallow? The whole thing is beyond me…

Then again, she says the same about me and the mud.

And the tennis balls.

IMGP1328

She doesn’t get why I get upset when the really chewed one goes missing… the one I’ve got just how I like it… the one she says is a soggy mess…

I don’t see why she gets upset when, say, the cheese goes missing either…

And that’s it, I suppose… we both like stuff and understand stuff the other one doesn’t, and that’s okay. Doesn’t stop us liking each other, now does it?

Yep, I was right… she’s heading for the bathtub…cold 002

So I’m heading under the table.
Gangway…!
Much love,
Ani xxx

  1. Ani, I am so impressed at how well you take care of your female companion. Especially watching her waistline. It’s clear that you just enjoy life to its fullest and you’re a good influence on her. Hide the tennis ball when you get it just right!

  4. Ani … I’d be quite upset if you ate my ginger cookie. They’re one of my favorite things this time of year. The cheese … well, I can understand the attraction. Take good care of yourself and of Sue, of course. Don’t overdo on all the tasty treats that abound this time of year. 😉

She lets me down, Judy… doesn’t do lots of tasty treats any more… There used to be turkey and sausages and stuff…Most unfair!

She doesn’t seem to do all the tasy stuff any more, Judy… she really lets me down with turkey and sausages and stuff… ever since I borrowed the whole turkey on Christmas day a couple of years back…
I was just checking, you understand, that she’d cooked it right… when she left the fridge door open…
