Notes from a small dog XXVII

I do not have fleas…. She knows that…she‘s the one who makes sure I don’t get them…. So calling me  Fleabag was entirely uncalled for. It is the winter moult, that’s all. It itches. But I’m not telling her that… she’ll only want to bathe me and groom me….I can live with the itch for a bit. It is just one of those things. The change of season means I have to shed some stuff and grow more… a better fur coat for the cold weather….It is not a pleasant process and it really itches sometimes… but it is worth it in the long run. In spite of all her sighing about hair and carpets…..

You have to admit it, we are far better adapted to changes in the weather than you lot…and my  fur doesn’t have to go in the washing machine or the bath every day….makes me shudder just to think about that….

ORC broch 012‘Course,  fleabag might go with lunatic, daft-dog and monster… and  I know they’re special… words that sound like insults, but the way she says them means she loves me lots really. A bit like my boys calling her a hobbit… no… wait…. Hehehe…..

Anyway, it is her own fault. She was showered and  in the pink fluffy thing early last night again and actually sat on the sofa with me… it is ages since we curled up on there together for a whole evening…and I like snuggles. I thought it was a bit unnecessary for her to unbury everything from under the cushions though. She has some weird ideas…

But I curled up on her feet and she put the box thingy on and we watched stuff that made her leak a lot and I growled at the crows and the horses….just doing my duty. I know I can’t get at them in the box… can’t even smell them in there… but I can still see ‘em.. I know they are in there somewhere….

So, we are all warm and snuggly, which sets the itchies off again… which is when she started the name calling….But that’s ok. I just ignored it and bided my time… waited till she was almost asleep than washed her feet. No, I know licking isn’t allowed…never understood that….but I was laid on ‘em.. and, shower or not, do you know how sensitive my nose it??

Anyway, she didn’t go to bed, just stayed on the sofa with me all night, which was really nice… and meant she got up even earlier than usual for my walk. I would share her big bed every night…I do try….I  could sacrifice myself… but she won’t let me for some reason….and I do not snore.

I don’t know if she was tired, or if she just needed a cuddle…either way, the sleep box worked its magic and we snuggled all night. She always falls asleep when the box lights up… She says some folk fall asleep in front of them all day long…so I suppose I understand why she doesn’t look at it often. There are other things to do with time than sit and fall asleep looking at pictures of life… Me, I’d rather get outside and smell stuff.

Speaking of which…

I hear invaders in the garden….

Much love
