Rhymes

14 Derbyshire (4)

Ten verses have slipped from the keys this morning… and I curse

I’ve got into the poet mode, and even think in verse!

I’ve written of the landscape and the stories on the wall,

Of painted windows, scallop shells and sleeping kings and all..

I’ve searched for words that work with things like ‘Arthur’ and ‘stained glass’…

For rhymes that don’t make me appear a literary ass.

That’s well and good, I have to say, when working on the books

But going to the village shop I got some funny looks…

Is it important, you may ask, if sausages don’t rhyme

With Ani’s bones or strawberries, or olive oil and thyme?

I need a break to clear my head, I could curl up and read…

My eyes alight on Longfellow… no… just go out and weed…

The garden will appreciate a little loving care…

I’ll go outside and fill my head with misty autumn air!

I love the idea of trying to find words which rhyme with some of those awkward ones!
