Ha, my turn! Thought I’d never get chance to write to you guys this week. Talk about hogging the computer! I mean, I dropped hints. Crawled on her lap.. I’ve got that one off brilliantly now.. she can’t stop me. Just hook my muzzle under her chin and heave… et voila. Instant lapdog. It didn’t help though. I spent half of the evening perched up behind her on the computer chair. Did she take any notice? No. Though it was handy for treats…
It was quite a good day though, all in all. We had sunshine. And one of my boys came to play. I know she said he’d come to do some jobs, but we all know it was me he came to see. After all, he spent most of his time playing. I was really helpful though. Every time he turned around with the paintbrush I was ready for him. He didn’t have to chase the ball once. It was right there. Every time.
I heard him coming, of course, long before she did. He must have been by the village shop when I heard the big noisy thing he rides. I was waiting for him by the window till he pulled up. Then I just couldn’t help bouncing round in circles. He always plays nicely.
He makes me smile a lot. And he understands my barks now. He just knew from a single bark that my ball has gone over the fence. How cool is that? That’s because he pays attention. He notices things. I’m getting him well trained. He knows to save me the last bit of the sandwich … she always feeds him… though he’s not quite there yet with the cake.
What do you mean dogs don’t eat cake? Try me!
You know by now I’ll eat most anything.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m talking edibles here. I leave the shoes and stuff alone. I am, in spite of what certain people may suggest, a good girl. I have one training shoe that is all mine. And she doesn’t exactly want the recycling anyway… Other than that I stick to my toys.
Ok, when I was younger perhaps. But I’m nearly two now. The incident with the paintbrushes was a long time ago. And how was I to know?
But I learned. I took notice of what she told me, and I soon got the hang of what I can chew and what I can’t. And you know, the more I took note and the less I chewed her things, the more toys she gave me. How cool is that? So it worked out really well. She’s happy and I have a whole toy box full of stuff.
I try and notice everything. There are limits to what one small dog can do, of course, and she certainly didn’t seem properly appreciative when I told her about the boys outside in the middle of the night. I just wanted to make sure they knew I was here too. I gave it my best warning howl anyway. It sort of worked. Everything was safe this morning.
Ah… she’s making coffee. That means I get milk. Like I said, you have to be aware… if I don’t remind her, she’ll put the milk away.
Time to go.
Much love,
Ani

Hey Benjamin,
I will hold you to that. I can do hugs and catch 24/7. Is there anything else in life? Other than sleep, food and pigeons, of course? 😛
See you soon
Love,

Ani, we humans need retraining every now and then. You seem to be doing a good job of keeping everyone in line. Next time, I’m sure, Sue will just scootch on over and let you at the computer. 🙂
