Healer’s Prayer
Teach me how to laugh; mother, sister, daughter, friend
That I may keep the joy within
to share with those that have no joy of their own.
Teach me how to weep; that I may understand their pain.
Teach me how to live; mother, sister, daughter, friend
That I may know the light that shines
That I may use it to see truly others’ souls.
Teach me how to die; that I may no-longer fear the darkness.
Teach me how to give; mother, sister, daughter, friend
That I may help those in need
That I may leave all selfish thoughts behind me.
Teach me to receive; that I may survive.
Teach me how to love; mother, sister, daughter, friend
That I may grow in spirit
and, in my turn, teach others to love.
Teach me how to hate; that I may never be tempted to.
My friend, Chris Kaye, posted this today. From his book, ‘Healer’s Journey’. I loved it so I thought I’d share.

This was wonderful!!

I thought so too. 🙂

Sadly, in a profession of healers I don’t know many to whom this prayer would come. The prayer would be more like “May I document enough bullet points to justify the upgraded CPT code in the event of an audit.”

Having worked within and been subject to the profession, I can agree with you. The system itself limits so many who would care if the paperwork and regulations gave them time. Though there are still some who put people first.

Deleted the Reblog post and replaced with this one “http://ballybin.wordpress.com/2013/01/30/the-healers-prayer/” –
The Reblogging of it messed up all the pretty formatting and, to my eye, just ruined some of the aesthetic pleasure of the piece – please forgive and let Chris know – I put links to you and the book “Healer’s Journey” at very top of post!

Lovely, isn’t it.. and Chris, who wrote this, has gone all bashful 🙂 Thank you for the reblog.. I have just taken great delight in making him blush by telling him 🙂

That’s what is known as a “Twofer” – two joys for one. Tell him blushing is the Universe’s way of protecting us from becoming arrogant, good-for-nothings – – and that I hope sharing his prayer becomes a daily thing in the WordPress world.
