The Wolf pack is Free ~ V. M Sang

Reblogged from Dragons Rule O.K.

FREE until 28th December.

This fantasy tale brings together a group of disparate people. They set off on a quest to find the long, lost sword of the legendary king, Sauvern, in response to a prophecy found in an ancient book.

They meet with dire adventures on the way, and come near to death, only to be rescued by unexpected sources.

On the journey they each have to face their greatest fears and not one of them returns unchanged.

Sally’s Cafe and Bookstore – Christmas Book Fair #Reviews #Doglovers Sue Vincent, #Fantasy/horror Vashti Quiroz-Vega, #Novella Jan Sikes

Reblogged from Sally Cronin at Smorgasbord:

Since the middle of November I have featured all the authors in the Cafe and Bookstore with a recent review and since we have a few days left, I will now share more up to date reviews that have been posted.

First a recent review for the writing team of Sue Vincent and Ani have released a new book for dog lovers just in time for Christmas. Doggerel: Life with a Small Dog

About Doggerel.

The relationship between Ani, the inimitable Small Dog and her two-legs, first came to light in ‘Notes from a Small Dog: Four Legs on Two’. Their poetic adventures continued in ‘Laughter Lines: Life from the Tail End’. In this new collection of poems, their daily life together takes centre stage. From the perfidy of humans who insist on bathing dogs, to the unpunctuality of writers at mealtimes, the relationship between two legs and four is explored in verse. The Small Dog reveals her continuing fascination with chicken, tennis balls and the compulsion to re-write Shakespeare, while exposing her two legs’ misdemeanours to the world.

A recent review for Doggerel

Doggerel is a form of loosely styled poetry, often though not always, irregular in rhythm and in rhyme, and frequently light or comical in intent. It’s the perfect title for this collection of poetry by Vincent and her co-author…her small dog.

A letter of complaint… from the Small Dog.

Dear Santa, I feel that I have to complain…

‘Cause my rotten two-legs has done it again!

I rose to her challenge, my friends gathered near,

So I’d not spend Christmas dressed up like a deer.

So did I get antlers? Well, honestly, no…

That mean, sneaky two-legs came up with a bow!

And granted, it’s Christmassy, all red and white,

But really, dear Santa, does that make it right?

She left me, I fear, with but one thing to do…

I took the thing off… and I had a good chew.

Much love,

Ani

Keys of Heaven (5): the will of the king – gathering ~ Steve Tanham

We climb the steps to the Abbey at Whitby, aware that something different is happening; that the curtain of time is being drawn back… for as long as we can keep the critical mind at bay

The years pass away. From the present keepers back through years of being a rich man’s possession… As – in a mist – we see the year 1539 and the sacking and wrecking of King Henry’s agents as they work the carnage of ‘Tudor Dissolution’.

The pillaged ruins are left as we see them now.

The Small Dog’s Christmas…

There were presents… which she enjoyed unwrapping

and exploring…

But when all is said and done,

the old loves are the best…

Who Are These Twins ~ Teresa Smeigh #writephoto

Jack was avoided by almost everyone on his way over. He would have to have a royal proclamation made to insist that everyone cooperated with his questioning. He needed to know the whole story as he was now the acting King, while a new one was officially proclaimed by the customary laws. Jack was pretty sure the twins, as their father and a lawyer, weren’t in any shape to take on the leadership as it stood now.

Wishes #midnighthaiku

Whatever your path

May this day bring peace and joy

And be filled with love

A new year beckons

May your tomorrows be bright

And your future blessed

The small dog and I wish you all the blessings of the season.

Snow Storm by Carol Taylor

The snow was coming down thick and fast, the weather had changed from a few light flurries of snow which didn’t settle, into a raging blizzard with frightening speed. The wind screen wipers struggling to keep the snow off the windscreen, it was building up with alarming speed and ferocity, Jenny knew if she didn’t get to Sally’s soon she would have to stop and clear the windscreen as her driving visibility was fading fast the windscreen wipers getting slower and slower as the snow built up, she was squinting to see clearly. There were already cars and lorries abandoned on the roadside, the weather was getting pretty dire and Jenny was getting worried.

Wearing heels and a short dress was definitely not the most suitable clothing to brave the elements, if she had to get out of the car and walk.

To make matters even worse she had forgotten to put her warm jacket and boots in the car, well, the weather man had said a mild Christmas was on the cards.
