This impressive monument in Stirling Scotland overlooks the scene of patriot, and martyr Sir William Wallace’s most important victory in the Battle of Stirling Bridge. It was closed down when the new monument was built in 1869. England used tyranny and terror to rule Scotland, but eventually the two countries faced each other at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297, where Scotland was led by William Wallace and his victory made him a national hero.
