After another appallingly quiet day on WordPress, where none of my favourite bloggers seem to have posted…again... a quick scroll through the dreaded Reader confirmed my worst fears.
“You have blocked all email notifications.”
Once again, I beg to differ, dear WordPress. You may have blocked all my email notifications… I certainly haven’t. Not in error, not by accident, not at all.
It is, however, an easy fix… and once again my computer will be chirping away with happy little pings and whirrs….until they do it again and I sit there twiddling my thumbs wondering why the place is so quiet.
The irony is that by posting the solution yet again, it will not be available to anyone who relies on email notifications if said notifications have been already been blocked.
If it happens to you:
1. Hover over ‘Reader’ top left to bring up menu and select ‘Manage’.
2. Click right pointing arrow > to access notification settings on any blog you follow.
3. This takes you to where you can choose the delivery type and frequency for each individual blog you follow. If your settings are as you left them, fine. If not, a message will appear saying ‘you have blocked all email notifications’. Follow the link they give and scroll down to Unblock…and Save.
This will correct the problem and your inbox too will once again echo to the patter of notifications.
Till they do it again.
Total frustration. Thanks for providing an escape for the rest of us Sue.

Why the WP tinkers have to continue tinkering is beyond me. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

I’m even having problems reading what is there. Grrrr!!!!!! I was just reading a Silent Eye post and thought my laptop was going to blow up. It only does it on WordPress. So annoying.

The trouble is, WordPress is by far the best blogging platform… with a great community… and they are making it impossibly difficult to live with.

It’s very rude. I just assume this is being done by a bored programmer or their cat got on the keyboard.

More of a dog person, but I do like the wild cats. Though I put red pandas, otters, and pangolins ahead of them all. 😀

Spiders creep me out. I also have a strange paranoia about sharks and crocodilians when I go near any natural bodies of water. Think I watched ‘Jaws’ and killer alligator movies as a kid.

This has happened to me twice, Sue. No reason, other than WordPress seems to have flicked the switch saying I have blocked all emails! As if I’d ever do that?
I was briefly taken hostage by the spam monster again, yesterday. Fortunately, I managed to escape.

Sue, some of us prefer to go in and read blogs others rely on notifications. Thank you for the heads up of why emails go quiet and how to fix it, educational and a handy reminder of what to do when 500 emails per day stop arriving lol xoxo
