Photo prompt round-up – Tree #writephoto

This week’s photo prompt of the tree in the grounds of Waddesdon manor again drew some widely different entries and I have reblogged as many as possible. Thank you to everyone who took part, read and commented.

Please click the links to read any you have missed and perhaps discover new blogs! If you have written a post for the prompt and it does not appear here, please let me know in the comments so that I can include it here.

Parting

“Have you forgotten?

You knew me once, when you were a sapling, a child of your people.

You heard my song and the laughter of the wind. Soft gold against my grey, you whispered your dreams.

Seasons passed… you rested with me and told me her name.

A long absence then. I sheltered you when you wept.

You are old now, child of your people. I am still a child of mine. Your eyes are clouded, your gold now silver. Winter takes you.

Must I weep a shower of green upon your resting, or will you remember… and dance the the moonlit path with me?”

“Can you remember?

I dreamed in your shadow.

I was a child then…you, a mere sapling. You sang to me in green and gold all that summer.

Years passed, I watched the clouds through your branches and dreamed of joy. I crowned her, a laughing angel, with the green you gave me.

That was long ago.

Now she is earth and you reach up in beauty to the heavens.

I come to take my leave, relive old memories.

I will be glad to go. I cannot halt their chainsaws.

Progress, they call it.

I am sorry.

I wish you knew.”

  1. I just couldn’t think of anything for this one. I kept looking at it and my brain was blank. I’m glad so many other people felt inspired. I’ve been happily following all the contributions. Maybe the next one will hit that button that makes turns on my muse 🙂
