Hugh’s challenge this week asks for a photo that speaks to us of calm. I couldn’t choose just one, but I could choose one trip.
To be in the north and look out across a golden land from the high places… to follow the path laid by the afternoon sun upon the waters… to stand beneath clouds low enough to touch… to share beauty…. there is serenity to be found in such a moment.
This moment I shared with my son, leaning against a wall high above Lake Windemere one December. We shared a glimpse of the Lake District for a few days, both of us with our cameras in our hands.
I showed him places I love… took him into the Yorkshire Dales and across Kirkstone Pass. Both of us were moved by beauty… something that showed in what the lens captured for us. It was a very special few days.

Lake Windermere certainly does look very tranquil. I’d love to go far a wander around the banks complete with my camera and my sandwiches.

It would take you a while, Bun… it is a fair old walk. But worth it.

Never been to the Laske District but we are planning a trip this September. If it’s as beautiful as your photography then we are in some real treats, Sue.
Thank you for joining me in this week’s photo challenge.
