Bloggers Interview

Thank you to Holly at Heartafire, who tagged me in the Bloggers Interview.

How did you get into blogging?
Curiosity. I’d come across a few blogs, but had no idea where to begin, or even if I wanted to. It was a time where I was exploring what I could learn… so I thought I would see how difficult it was to set up a blog for myself. I posted… twice I think… then I promptly forgot about it and the blog lay fallow for a year. When I needed to write about my son’s journey through the recovery from his brain injury, I remembered the blog. Then the Silent Eye came into being… and I haven’t stopped writing since.

What advice would you give to a blogger just starting out?
Don’t worry about stats or be in awe of bloggers with followers in five figures. Everyone starts somewhere. That first year, I had a whole six ‘views’!
Be yourself. And have fun. If you are not enjoying writing, why blog?

What would be your dream campaign?
What an open-ended question! Politically? Personally? Ethically?
I doubt I could pick just one, without going for the global platitudes that now seem to mask, rather than highlight very real concerns. I’d like to see every child fed, housed, loved and safe to enjoy being children… the barriers of race, religion and social inequality go down for good… respect for our fellow creatures and the planet that is our home… a fair deal for the disadvantaged…
The list could go on endlessly…

Do you have a plan for your blog?
Does it look like it? 🙂 I write about too many things to focus on any kind of plan. It serves a purpose… many purposes, in fact, from a showcase for the books to a place to talk about what we do in the Silent Eye. But mostly, it is a place to write… and blogging brings many advantages not found in a paper diary.

What do you think about rankings?
Er… there are rankings for blogs?
