The conversation went something akin to this!

“Have you ever thought of putting a collection of poems together as a book Mike?”

“Occasionally young Rachel…it would be a splendid thing indeed to be able to have a bit of hard copy for the grandkids to read one day and ponder on the point as to what went on in the mind of that silly old fool of a grandad they once had.”

“You should do it then.”

“Do what?”

“Write a book”

“You’re having a laugh surely? When it comes to getting things together I’m about as much use as a fart in a thunder storm; a eunuch in a brothel; you name it and that’s how pathetic I am.”

“No I’m not joking…just do it!”

That is very kind thank you…truly appreciated. Odd thing is I nearly gave up as the first three attempts at saving as a draft were lost to the ether and the one you picked up on doesn’t appear on my reader thing even though it says it does. Why are things so complicated! I’d like to be Frank the World’s Most Intelligent Blowfly I communed with regularly in the gite we stayed in last week…Frank would know what to do!

I’m not sure I have ever ‘met’ anyone as technologically challenged, Mike 🙂
Good luck with the book… and thank goodness Rachel took you under her wing 🙂

Sue, I am hopeless in the extreme. Did I ever mention that until my mid twenties I presumed light bulbs were part of the house as opposed to being a thing one changed when a bulb died. I only resolved this light bulb dilemma when my then wife and I returned to our flat in Twickenham and upon flicking the light switch nothing happened! She said I should change the bulb…I glazed over…not far into the future we split up! As an only child my mother did those things so I had no good reason to have absorbed light bulb knowledge really! And never ask me about ‘screws’ and ‘screwdrivers’ for the tale is even more embarrassing to impart!
