‘And maybe the children of this world will ride out as wise horsemen. Maybe the writers, the painters, the music players will take up sword and shield and fight for artistic freedom, for the soul of Logres, for our rich and wonderful global land.
‘Maybe the song will become a universal anthem, a call to gentle arms, a sound in the darkness of sad times, a tuneful beacon in the brilliance of light.’
These short pieces all deal with the connection between man and the landscape, using the metaphor of the lyre to describe the deep song the world sings when its strings are plucked by human emotions, actions and thoughts. Lyrical, haunting, joyous, disturbing and mystical, these stories will appeal to the musician, the poet and the mystic – and anyone else who loves our Mother Earth and hears the songs she sings.
After thirty years as a teacher of English, the time had come to write. Alienora Taylor, sporting orange hair and the brightest of Doc Marten’s, has since produced five of books, including Riding at the Gates of Sixty, a fictional account of the life of Virginia Woolf.

“…could a writer capture another writers voice without losing her own? The answer was yes! Not only does Taylor manage this difficult task with little effort, she positively shines as she does it. The lyrical beauty of her words often dance across the page and the reader is swept up in the journey…” Review by K.L.Caley.
Long-Leggety Beasties is, we are told, not autobiographical… although it is evident that the characters and many of the hilarious and tragic events in which ‘Geraldine’ is embroiled have been drawn from Alienora’s own experience as a teacher and presented, re-coloured and new, in this novel.
Alienora’s books are available via Amazon in paperback and for Kindle.
She writes a regular blog at Chronicles of an Orange-Haired Woman.
