They have no idea what’s about to happen . . .“I’ve been walking among their cryogenic pens, checking they are all well in their interstellar slumber. We are about to enter orbit around Idos, our destination planet for the colonisation experiment.

So much depends on this – and now the Captain has disappeared! I hope he returns, hope that he’s just playing a game with me, the ship’s computer and cyborg who he has groomed to be totally human-like. What if he doesn’t come back? What will I do then? I know him so well after seven years of interstellar travel together, while they slept.

Dare I impersonate him? It would be worth the try. The lasers are ready if they see through it and rebel . . . but no-one wants that. They have no idea what is in store for them when I lift the long sleep from their eyes. They will look so good as Egyptian figures in my play of humanity’s journey . . . and my part? Well, I need no additional role, I can just be Setaxa.

3-2-1 Here we come, Idos . . . I will compute how much damage we need to sustain to simulate a crash. We must never be able to go home . . . history begins, again, here . . . in a few short days.

Dream on  . . . you will be safe with me . . .”

The Land of the Exiles, Derbyshire, April 11-13
Standing room only . . .

Places are still available for The Silent Eye’s annual Weekend Workshop in the lovely village of Great Hucklow, Derbyshire. The residential weekend runs from the evening of Friday April 11th to Sunday afternoon April 13th, with full board at the Nightingale Centre from £200-£235 per person all inclusive.
The weekend consists of a series of ritual dramas telling a single, symbolic story of the journey of the soul in a modern and innovative way that is both deeply serious and a good deal of fun. Interspersing the rituals are knowledge sessions where we examine and share ideas. In the evenings the library and village pub see much laughter.
Standing room only… although there are still places available they are now only available for Upholders… those who come along to share, support and observe, rather than taking an active part in the rituals.
