An informal event

Walk the Talk new small

Please Note: The event is now confirmed for 26th October 2013, meeting initially at the George & Pilgrim, High Street, Glastonbury.

Sometimes it’s just great to take a single day and walk and talk and enjoy a drink or two with friends and share being human. We’d like to revisit the idea of such an event at Glastonbury to mark the end of this wonderful Summer and share some of its distillations and harvests. We floated this idea after the many requests to re-convene the Silent Eye group that met for the April launch event in Derbyshire, but we (i.e. me, as Sue has badgered and I’ve procrastinated . . ) have been slow to follow this up. My apologies.

The plan would to be to base ourselves in a pub in Glastonbury (ideally one with a real log or coal fire, and no entertainment machines, suggestions welcome). If the numbers are large, we could book a small function room to chat in, or failing that, we could just mingle in our own corner and laugh end generally catch up together.

From that base, weather permitting, we would plan out three short, circular walks, lasting, say, an hour each. We would have a destination for each leg, and, at that point, we would carry out readings from some of the most inspiration books (or other sources) we have encountered during the past year. Everyone is welcome to join in, so get your texts ready!

The theme will be “Being Human – A Spiritual Perspective”. The idea would be to explore how we come to be the wonderful and often fragile beings that we all are and see if there’s any hope. If not, we’ll have another drink . . .

The cost of the event would be small. Possibly a tenner or so, if we can get away with not having a room in the pub. If we have a large turnout and need a room, possibly a little more.

Dates: We’re looking at the end of October ish. One of the days from the weekend of the 26-27 October is the current preference, but we’ll see what suits all, as best we can.

All suggestions welcome.

We’re looking forward to it, and hope you can join us.

From your friends at the Silent Eye.
