Notes from a small dog XXV

I’ve had visitors this week. It’s been cool.

Well, I’m not sure I really understand that, I mean, it has been really, really hot in this fur coat, but then today, it is really chilly and she is wrapped in the pink fluffy thing already shivering. Your fur really isn’t much good, is it?

But anyway, I’ve had fun.

I had one of my boys staying over the other night. I let him play fetch with me for hours. After I’d jumped all over him a bit… just to let him know I’d missed him. Haven’t seen him in ages! He seemed to like it.

It was a funny evening though, cause they went out for a bit and came back all giggly… then she filled loads of vases with roses and her eyes got all leaky again, and she was screwing up soggy tissues.

So I gave him a cuddle just so he wouldn’t leak too.

And he didn’t go home either… stayed in the guest room all night.

Well, I wasn’t going to miss out… soon as she opened the living room door in the morning I was up there like a bullet to say good morning to him! She can stand in the doorway shaking her head if she likes… I’m not going to miss a cuddle with my boy! I never know when he’ll be here next!

Then they got really busy, doing polishing things and stuff. He spent ages in the bathroom.. I wasn’t going to check.. you never know. .. it might all have been a ploy to get me in there… wouldn’t put it past her…She’s sneaky like that. Soon as I came down for a drink she shut me back in downstairs… which was really mean… ‘cause my other boy turned up too! But they were all clean and shiny and she wouldn’t let me jump on everyone.

Then she was out for ages…

She gave me chicken when she came home though, so I’ll let her off. She was all smiley and leaky too.

Then today my boy came again! This time he brought a new playmate for me… a pretty one. She smiled at me and stroked me and called me silky. She obviously has good taste.

But she’s really busy with stuff… so it was nice to have time to play.

Then I got another visitor tonight… and more ball throwing.

You’re funny, you humans… we don’t get visitors for weeks on end then you all come at once!

Wonder if that’s why she’s so tired tonight? It’s nowhere near my bedtime, let along hers and she looks like she’ll fall asleep any moment….

I think I should take her the ball.. just to wake her up. It’s all about taking time to notice these things and doing the little things that make a difference. I can sacrifice my beauty sleep to play ball with her if she needs me….

It might not seem like much, but the little things matter. And love is a bit like that…a bit like the roses she loves so much… a single petal may not be all that interesting on its own, but put ’em all together and they make a beautiful flower.
