Zen ... usually gets me out of trouble

Zen … usually gets me out of trouble

I am dedicating this post to my fan.

Yes, I have a fan. One or two, even.  Particularly, though,  to one lady who always reads my posts.

Do dogs blush? I think not. We can do guilty, and are pretty good at embarrassed, but I’m not sure we blush. I went all warm though when I heard what the lady had written. It is a shame she lives so far away. I’d play ball with her any time.

Still, two’s a good number. I will be two next week. I might be going to stay with my friend Gucci on my birthday too. That will be fun. I like playing with Gooch and the pup. Wonder if I’ll get presents? I often do…she doesn’t wait for birthdays and things to give me presents.

Guilty face.. note the pathos... works every time...

Sometimes I give her presents too. She’s not always happy about them… like the flowers I brought her, picked specially in the garden… or the bones I’d buried ages ago and dug back up. Or the strawberries… I only thought I’d save her the trouble of picking them. I didn’t think she’d mind.

She seems to prefer other presents though. Like tonight when she offered me treats from the fridge… she buys me special yoghurt things sometimes… and I just stayed and cuddled instead. She understood that was a gift to her. I’ll jump through hoops for a yoghurt! So just sitting and letting her cuddle me instead showed her she means more than treats. Sometimes. Chicken or cheese may be different.

I cuddled her when the sewing machine died too. You’ll have noticed she’s busy, wandering round muttering about ‘six more days’ and stuff. She talks to me about it a lot, you know. I know all about the new School. I ought to, it is based on something that is more important to me than chicken or even pigeons.. Love.

So she had the machine on the table and I curled up next to her on one of the dining chairs. Just keeping her company, you know. When the machine stopped and she sat with her head in her hands after messing with the screwdriver thingy, half giggling and saying naughty words under her breath, I snuggled in close and let her know it would be okay. I stayed there quiet for her for ages. It’s the little things that work best. the cuddles. the just being there for her.

In fact, I only moved when next door’s cat had the cheek to try and come in the garden! I mean, what was I to do? Have to protect her from the Ginger Tom!

Then I thought I ought to cheer her up.

So I had a fight with my bed. She can’t help laughing at me. It

You have to laugh.. at me or with me, either will do :-)

always works.

And when she laughs, I’m happy too.

Much love,

Ani

So cute! We had the same issue, Mia decided to destroy her bed a few weeks ago…she was too cute to stay mad at.

  2. Good job, Ani! And happy almost birthday! If you lived in Texas, the Gs would invite you over for cake made especially for dogs (though it’s fine for people they like something sweeter) that their friends at The Three Dog Bakery make. Godiva and you could play chase and squirrel hunt. George would probably like to wrestle and tug. Guinness would love a snuggle on the sofa. You would be the most popular dog in the house since it would be your birthday, but everyone would get cake.

Julie, I have my passport all ready.. I’m sure She wouldn’t mind escorting me to meet the Gs 🙂 not if there is cake too….

I’d be happy to play.. and squirrel hunt sounds fun. I usually have to chase the birds, of course, and the dreaded cat.. but I’ve never played with squirrels… 🙂

      • Oh you’d love the squirrels. They walk the fences and tree branches. When they feel brave they drink from the bird baths. The Gs enjoy lying in the grass quietly until the squirrel tries to drink then they all run at the bird bath barking. Poor squirrel almost has a heart attack! But every day it happens at least once. The Gs enjoy the cat chase game too but it only happens on their walks. Cats are too smart to visit our yard.

My beagle I had back when I was 15 was the best dog I ever had… but she got so nervous when we left the house we would come back and everything was broken and destroyed.

We couldn’t take her with us most of the time because she was an epileptic dog and car rides seemed to bring on seizures, Reminds me of coming home and finding my pillows all torn with feathers everywhere HaHa No matter what *Sapphire* did it was just impossible to be mad or not to laugh.

Dogs are truly the greatest thing on earth.
    Love the Photos !!!

She won’t touch anything except her own stuff.. she’s really good that way. But most of her toys loose their stuffing fairly rapidly. Except her teddy and little puppy toy.. those she treats with real gentleness 🙂

I love dogs.. and this one more than any 🙂

Yep we ran into that problem as well, they really need to make the beds/Pillows and toys for dogs more durable, we would buy something and the next day it looked like it was 10 years old HaHa

The problem with the bed is that she thinks it is a very large plant pot.. which she kidnaps and uses to clear up her toys in.. she can carry a lot at once that way. She also uses them to throw her own ball in a random way when I can’t play.. and the bed does a wonderful job of that!
